Reporting to the Director/Chief Financial Officer, the Manager Finance and Commercial leads a high performing team of employees in the planning and delivery of a broad range of Council activities within the Finance & Commercial Services Area, including Finance, Management Accounting & Payroll, Property, Revenue and Valuations.

A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance and/or similar is required, as well as membership of a recognised financial professional accounting body such as CA or CPA. The successful candidate will have significant experience as a senior financial accountant or finance manager, preferably coupled with experience and sound commercial acumen.

Use effective leadership and communication skills to:

• Work collaboratively to achieve positive financial sustainability and organisational compliance, in accordance with statutory obligations and organisational goals and objectives.
• Oversee the production of Council’s annual budget, long-term financial strategy (including financial reporting and dissemination of data) and financial statements in accordance with legislative requirements and sector standards.
• Identify Commercial opportunities organisationally to establish new ways of generating income sources.
• Provide advice to Directors, Managers, Councillors and Employees on Finance and Commercial matters, to inform decision making
