POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Assistant Accountant supports the day-to-day financial operations of Ringers Western, a public unlisted company, by managing key accounting processes and ensuring the integrity of financial data.

This role is pivotal in maintaining the accuracy of payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed asset management, and monthly close procedures. It also offers exposure to external audits, financial governance, and compliance reporting, making it an ideal stepping stone for a finance professional seeking to advance in a fast-paced, growing organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transactional and Financial Operations

Oversee payroll processing in Xero, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legislation

Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations and aged debt reporting

Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and depreciation schedules in Xero

Perform bank and cash reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies

Month-End and Financial Reporting

Assist with month-end close processes in NetSuite, including journal preparation, accruals, and ledger reviews

Support the Finance Manager in preparing internal management reports and dashboards

Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and year-end financial statements

Audit and Compliance

Act as a key support for external audits, coordinating document requests and ensuring timely responses

Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies

Participate in the maintenance and improvement of finance processes and documentation

Process Improvement

Identify and recommend opportunities for automation in AP/AR, reconciliations, and reporting

Support implementation of new systems and controls to improve financial accuracy and efficiency

Maintain up-to-date process documentation for core finance functions

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential

Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance or related field

At least 3 years & experience in a finance or accounting role

Familiarity with Xero, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems

Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail

Experience working in or supporting audit processes

Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills

Desirable

Progress towards CA/CPA qualification

Experience in a retail or eCommerce business

Exposure to reporting and dashboard tools (e.g. Power BI)

High level of discretion, particularly with payroll and sensitive information
