As part of our expansion, we are seeking a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to our financial operations and support our strategic objectives.
What you will be doing:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support our financial operations by maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance, helping drive informed decision-making and business growth.
Roles & Responsibilities:
• Reconcile bank accounts to general ledger accounts.
• Provide support to AP and AR functions by processing invoices, receipts, payments accurately and in a timely manner, assisting with responding to clients and vendors for adhoc queries.
• Prepare and maintain financial records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.
• Assist with producing balance sheets, income statements, and general ledger entries.
• Perform regular reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial records.
• Assist senior accountants with month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for management and external stakeholders, providing insights into financial performance.
• Assist in budget preparation and financial forecasting to support strategic planning.
• Support year end audit processes to ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Assist with payroll processing.
• Provide support to senior accountants and financial controller as required.
• Provide financial guidance and support to other departments to promote financial literacy and accountability.
• Assist in preparing tax schedules for BAS, FBT returns and income tax returns.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and policies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or are close to graduating. Plans to progress toward CA/CPA certification is a plus.
• Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data effectively.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members and other departments.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
