Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to support initiatives that make a tangible difference? Mackay Regional Council is seeking a proactive and skilled Sustainability Officer to support delivery of our Environmental Sustainability Strategy and sustainability actions within Council and community.
About this opportunity:
As a Sustainability Officer, you will work collaboratively across the organisation, under general direction, to
- Deliver key actions in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
- Drive sustainability initiatives, such as climate risk resilience, energy efficiency, carbon emission reduction, Reef Guardian Council actions, and vehicle fleet transition.
- Provide advice to teams and support working groups in achieving organisational sustainability goals.
- Foster collaboration with stakeholders to promote and deliver sustainability initiatives.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
We are looking for someone with the right mix of qualifications, experience, and skills, including:
- Formal qualifications in environmental science, planning, engineering, sustainability, or a related discipline.
- Experience and knowledge in working with sustainability strategies, sustainability practices and the delivery of individual projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to develop business cases, articulate solutions, write reports and support delivery of sustainability projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to progress sustainability actions in the Council area.
