Are you passionate about the environment and water resources? Do you have an ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights for the community? We are seeking a dedicated Catchment Reporting Project Officer to help us improve the Murraylands and Riverland community’s understanding of their local water resources and ecosystems.

Flexible working arrangements are available.

As the Catchment Reporting Project Officer, you will:

  • Coordinate, collect, and manage water-related data to inform the community about the condition of their catchment and water-dependent ecosystems. Your work will help ensure stakeholders across the region are well-informed and engaged in discussions surrounding water use.
  • Communicate complex water resource conditions in a clear, concise, and accessible way to a broad range of audiences, ensuring everyone—from local landholders to community groups—can engage meaningfully.
  • Support the development, implementation, and review of statutory and non-statutory water planning documents, including Water Allocation Plans and Water Affecting Activity Control Policies, in accordance with the Landscape Act.
  • Foster productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, landholders, and community groups, working collaboratively to achieve positive water-related outcomes for the region.
  • Maintain accurate regional water resource data as part of the region’s monitoring, evaluation, and reporting framework.
  • Evaluate water resource data and contribute to the development of frameworks for monitoring, reporting, and continuous improvement in prescribed water resource areas.
  • Collaborate with project team members to collate and analyse water resource data, draft reporting content, and ensure clear presentation of findings.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by taking responsibility for your safety and that of others, identifying hazards, and actively participating in health and safety consultations.

We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Analyse and synthesize complex information from diverse sources, identifying key issues, assessing impacts, and developing solutions.
  • Critically examine challenges related to water resource management, using innovative thinking to identify causes and solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively by seeking input from others with diverse perspectives, leveraging their knowledge and experience to find optimal solutions.
  • Spot discrepancies and inconsistencies in data and be discerning in your approach to resolving issues.
  • Apply an understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and reporting principles in natural resource management.
  • Communicate data clearly: You’ll have experience synthesising data and presenting it to a variety of audiences, making technical content accessible to all.
  • Exhibit project management expertise: You understand the key principles of managing projects and can apply them to deliver outcomes effectively.
  • Utilise data analysis tools: Experience with data analysis is essential. Familiarity with environmental data, databases, Power BI and ArcGIS Story Maps is highly desirable.
