The Allied Health Team Leader - Hand Therapy plays a pivotal role in providing clinical leadership, driving excellence, and fostering professional growth within the dedicated hand therapy team at SALHN. As an expert in the field, this role demands a high level of clinical independence, competency, and accountability to ensure exceptional patient care and service delivery.
About the role:
Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Therapy (FMC) and Manager of Physiotherapy (FMC) some of your duties as the Allied Health Team Leader for the Hand Therapy unit may involve:
- Providing strategic direction, manage workloads, and optimizing skill mix within the hand therapy team, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Providing an expert Hand Therapy service to SALHN patients including the provision of specialised oversight for the prioritisation of clinical cases.
- Conducting quality audits, developing clinical protocols, and spearheading training and professional development initiatives to uphold the highest standards of hand therapy practice.
- Supervising and mentoring AHP2, AHP1, and ASO2 staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages professional growth and excellence.
Please note: the successful incumbent will have the option of Full-Time employment. FTE will comprise 0.9 at an AHP3 classification and 0.1 at an AHP2 classification.
About you:
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with Occupational Therapy Australia
OR
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
- Broad experience Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy, as well as demonstrated advanced level of skill in Hand Therapy.
- Experience in the fabrication of complex orthoses.
- Experience with wound management associated with post-surgical care in hands.
- Demonstrated experience with project management including clinical research/ service improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in a role with administrative and managerial responsibilities.
- Ability to initiate and lead change that results in improve outcomes and facilitates continuous quality improvement.
- Committed to promoting best practice and developing the role of Hand Therapy
