The Role – Mental Health Team Leader (Occupational Therapist)

This dynamic role is primarily a supporting role to the Mental Health Stream Lead (who works in a part time capacity). The role also offers a blend of client case work, employee supervision and clinical development and general support to the OT Mental Health – Stream. You will work closely with Early Career and Student Program Lead, to ensure that junior therapists are supported and given the opportunity to thrive within the community therapy environment.

As an Occupational Therapist at BePositive Therapy, therapists work with clients in their homes or other community environments, delivering OT services that align with client goals and needs.

Duties Include -

Leadership Duties:

Assist the Stream Leader with day-to-day operations within the Mental Health Stream (VIC, TAS and QLD).

Motivate, mentor and inspire the team towards agreed goals.

Support the delivery of the company’s professional development program.

Be present during office days, building strong relationships with the members of the team.

Support the recruitment and induction procedures for new employees into the region.

Clinical Duties:

Conducting assessments, such as functional capacity review, family support plans, assistive technology, home modification.

Report writing and case noting.

• Attendance at client case conferencing and intervention planning meetings.

• Designing and implementing therapy plans to assist clients to reach their goals.

• Receipt of weekly supervision and providing supervision to direct supervisees.

Supervision Duties:

• Supervise, mentor, and support employees within the Mental Health Stream, promoting a positive and collaborative team culture.

• Conduct regular supervision sessions with team members, offering guidance and professional development opportunities.

• Collaborate with the Stream Leader to monitor team performance, address challenges, and implement improvement strategies.

• Deliver training to enhance the skills and knowledge of the Mental Health Stream team.

• Act as a point of escalation for complex or critical cases, providing support and expertise to both clients and team members.

Skills and Experience

Current AHPRA registration

Strong evidence of well-developed communication skills

An ability to work autonomously.

Demonstrated experience working in OT paediatrics

Well-developed time management and organisational skills

A desire to learn and commit to regular continuing professional development.

A commitment to engagement in quality improvement activities

An ability to mentor others and role model quality performance

An ability to speak and write in English

Desired (but certainly not essential)

Knowledge of the NDIS or Aged Care

Experience working in the NDIS or Aged Care
