City Projects is a successful, motivated, multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for delivering Council’s Capital Works program safely, on time, on budget and to a high standard of quality and environmental compliance.

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide project management services for construction projects within the City Projects Team. We are looking for an effective leader with strong interpersonal skills to take ownership and effectively deliver these projects. In consultation with the Manager City Projects and the Coordinator Construction the successful candidate will; develop and deliver a wide range of multidisciplinary architectural, engineering, civil and landscape projects for Bayside Council and will be given authority and autonomy to act as Council’s Authorised Person in contracts.

The role is responsible for all aspects of Project Management, including but not limited to the administration and implementation of Construction Projects; engaging consultants and contractors; managing and responding to contractual or commercial risks; and reviewing building contracts, plans and specifications. Liaising with stakeholders on the project and responding to community queries.

This position requires a close working relationship with the City Projects Design team for the buildability resolution during the design phase of the projects and the preparation of the tender documentation for construction.

Key accountabilities include:

· Project Manage all aspects of the construction project, including managing the construction contract, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring all approvals are in place.

· Provide contract administration on Council contracts, and develop and deliver additional projects, focusing on quality project outcomes and continuous improvement activities.

· Evaluate, review and audit contractor compliance for contracts, plans, designs and specifications and identify, report, and manage non-conformance.

· Provide project management advice in relation to Council’s City Projects Program, including interpreting and advising on complex regulatory and legislative requirements.

· Review, evaluate and audit quality assurance, safety, and environmental systems. Conduct site inspections to ensure contractor compliance.

· Monitor progress, assess monthly progress claims, variations and extensions of time submitted by contractors.

· Actively engage in the procurement and tender evaluation process.

· Responsible for the successful completion, handover, and defect liability of the project.

· Responsible for the financial completion and capitalisation of projects in accordance with Council’s policies and procedures.

About you

We are looking for a Building Professional experienced in the delivery of multi-disciplined public infrastructure or commercial projects with the following:

· Relevant appropriate qualifications in Project Management, Building Construction, Architecture, or Construction Management.

· Demonstrated experience and knowledge across several functional areas including project management, building construction and maintenance, procurement and contract administration, architecture or civil engineering.

· Current Class C Driver’s Licence
