About the Role
As our new Associate Director, Projects, you'll lead and deliver a portfolio of strategic, high-impact initiatives that support whole-of-government workforce priorities. The role spans complex programs involving workforce transformation, recruitment process improvement, systems implementation, and organisational change.
This is a leadership position, responsible for managing high-value projects from concept to completion-ensuring alignment with broader organisational strategies and government priorities. It involves close collaboration with senior stakeholders, strategic direction-setting, and oversight to ensure delivery is on time, on budget, and to a high standard.
Sitting within the Workforce Mobility Placement team in the People & Workforce Group, the role offers a unique opportunity to shape future-focused workforce initiatives and support seamless, skills-based career transitions across the NSW Government.

We're Looking For
- Project Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead end-to-end delivery of large-scale, complex projects, particularly in areas such as recruitment, systems implementation or workforce reform
- Process Improvement and Innovation: Demonstrated success in driving improvements to business and recruitment processes, applying human-centred design or Lean/Agile methodologies
- Change Management and Transformation: Experience in leading organisational change initiatives that support cultural and operational shifts in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Systems and Implementation Knowledge: Familiarity with project lifecycles related to systems implementation, workforce platforms or enterprise solutions (HRIS, CRM etc.)
- Strategic Leadership: Ability to translate big-picture objectives into actionable project plans, aligning delivery to broader government and organisational goals
- Risk and Governance Awareness: Understanding of governance frameworks and risk management practices essential to public sector project delivery
- Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, building consensus, and influencing decision-making.

About the Team
The Workforce Mobility Placement (WMP) Program is a government-wide initiative led by the Premier's Department. We help retain talented public sector employees by placing those affected by change into vacant roles at the same level across NSW Government.
Our team plays a vital role in keeping key skills and experience within the sector. We connect impacted employees with opportunities that match their expertise-before roles are advertised externally-making career transitions smoother and more efficient. With no formal assessment or interview required for eligible placements, we make it easier for employees to continue contributing to NSW Government.

Salary: Classification Grade 11/12. Package includes base salary ($145,378 - $168,130) plus superannuation (11.5%) and leave loading.
