We are a small but highly skilled organization actively growing our production capabilities, by seeking a skilled and driven Production Assistant/Co-Ordinator to join our team, and play a key role in coordinating manufacturing workflows, procurement activities, and supply chain logistics. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with a manufacturing background, strong systems knowledge, and excellent communication skills to join a high-performing team in a unique industry

Position Overview

The Production Assistant/Co-Ordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of materials planning, procurement, supplier management, and internal production logistics. This role will ensure that all components, supplies, and production documentation are accurately tracked and delivered in a timely manner to support efficient manufacturing operations.

Reporting to senior management, this role will also contribute to production scheduling, cost control, and workflow optimization, and will require high competency in tools such as MYOB, Excel, and Bill of Materials (BOM) systems. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar manufacturing or logistics coordination role. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role suited to someone who thrives in a small, fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day logistics for materials, components, and supplies used in production

Manage and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and production documentation for multiple projects

Track inventory levels and coordinate stock movements between departments

Plan and execute procurement activities including raising purchase orders, managing lead times, and negotiating with suppliers

Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials

Use MYOB to manage purchasing, invoicing, accounts reconciliation, and inventory tracking

Collaborate with the production team to coordinate build schedules and materials flow

Create delivery timelines, production forecasts, and inventory status reports

Support new product introduction and ensure materials readiness for project launches

Analyze material usage and identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve procurement efficiency

Liaise with external logistics providers for inbound and outbound freight when required

Maintain compliance with internal systems and external regulatory requirements related to materials handling and purchasing

Assist with overall operations support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the organization

Skills & Experience Required

Proven experience in a manufacturing, production, or logistics coordination role

Working knowledge of MYOB for procurement, accounts, and inventory functions

Experience managing and interpreting Bill of Materials (BOM) and production spreadsheets

Understanding of procurement and supply chain management processes

Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both internal coordination and supplier negotiation

High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with inventory, costs, and timelines

Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for data management and reporting

Ability to work collaboratively in a small, hands-on production team

A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Desirable Attributes

Experience working in the marine, automotive, or defense manufacturing sector

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and material planning systems

Comfortable in a fast-paced, technically-driven environment
