We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transport Controller/Allocator to join our operations team. This role is vital in ensuring that our transport operations run smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
Job Description:
As a Transport Controller, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the daily allocation of vehicles and drivers to ensure the timely delivery/collection of goods. Your focus will be on optimizing routes, minimizing delays, and ensuring that all transportation operations comply with company standards and legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Allocate and schedule drivers and vehicles for daily deliveries, ensuring routes are optimized for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Monitor and track the progress of deliveries/pickups in real-time, resolving any delays or issues that arise.
Communicate effectively with drivers to provide support, updates, and instructions as needed.
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
Work closely with other teams, including customer service and operations teams, to ensure smooth coordination and problem resolution.
Maintain accurate records of transport activities, including driver logs, delivery/pickup schedules, and any operational discrepancies.
Use transport management software to track vehicle availability, driver hours, and delivery/pickup schedules.
Respond to urgent or unforeseen transportation issues, making quick decisions to minimize impact.
Prepare and present reports on transport performance, including delivery/pickup times, route efficiency, and vehicle utilisation.
Assist in managing and coordinating special or complex delivery/pickup requirements.
Your Schedule
Working hours: 9am to 6pm
Location: Eastern Creek, NSW
Requirements:
Previous experience in transport allocation or logistics coordination.
Strong understanding of transport operations and scheduling.
Strong knowledge of Sydney Metro Areas.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic and high-pressure setting.
Proficiency in transport management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards, WHS and Chain of Responsibility (COR) Laws.
A valid driver’s license.
A valid forklift licence.
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or relevant certification in logistics or transport management is a plus.
Hands on - Engaged and operationally involved in all aspects of the job.
