The successful applicants will take pride in their work and have a proven capacity to provide high quality work in relation to electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies. They will be able to work effectively in and contribute to a small team. They will also be comfortable working to exacting standards performing wiring, component installation, hand-soldering and cable harnessing on assembled units.
The primary responsibilities of the role are:
Follow written instructions and manufacturing process instructions including drawings, diagrams, specifications and work orders.
Assemble ELV electrical and electronic systems or support structures and install components, units, sub-assemblies, wiring, or assembly casings, using mechanical fasteners soldering equipment.
Perform repetitive hand and machine soldering and assembly operations on printed circuit boards, connectors and terminals.
Build cable, harnessing and mechanical assemblies for ELV systems.
Position and align parts and components. Secure them in place or remove them using appropriate, various methods including soldering, crimping, fastening, gluing, etc. Install ELV assemblies in cases or cabinets.
Bundle and route wiring within the product being worked.
Test ELV product to ensure conformance to specifications.
Test functional performance.
Visually check sub-assemblies and assemblies for completeness/correctness of previous operations and for foreign object debris (FOD).
Use hand and bench tools and bench mounted aids to assemble components.
Inform Supervisor and floor quality representative when components, sub-assemblies, and/or assemblies are out of specifications.
Use simple magnification aids to check for foreign object debris (FOD).
Accurately keep processing and curing times and annotate part and serial numbers.
Verify inventory of received parts against work orders.
Perform packaging of completed assemblies for shipment.
Must be able to lift up to 15kg's repeatedly.
Basic computer skills required.
Provide constructive feedback on assembly instructions, documentation and systems of work.
The ideal candidate will hold a diploma or advanced diploma in electrical and/or electronic engineering and have a minimum of 1 years experience assembling and manufacturing electrical and electronic products and systems.
The position is full time.
A current national police clearance is a pre-requisite for engagement with AVI and on-going employment may be the subject to obtaining and maintaining AGSVA baseline clearances and/or licences issued under the Security and Related Activities (Control) Act, 1996 along with Aviation and Maritime Identification cards.
