The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Cloud Architect with a deep understanding and passion for designing and implementing self-healing infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
You will be instrumental in defining our cloud architecture strategy, with a strong emphasis on building resilient, automated, and self-recovering systems. You will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure our cloud infrastructure is scalable, secure, cost-effective, and capable of automatically mitigating failures with minimal human intervention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture Design: Design and architect robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure solutions with a primary focus on self-healing capabilities.
- Self-Healing Strategy Development: Define and champion self-healing principles, patterns, and best practices across our cloud environment.
- Tool and Technology Selection: Evaluate and recommend appropriate cloud services, automation tools, and monitoring solutions to enable effective self-healing.
- Implementation Guidance: Provide architectural guidance and support to engineering teams during the implementation of self-healing mechanisms.
- Automation Expertise: Drive the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet) to enable automated provisioning, configuration, and recovery.
- Monitoring and Alerting Strategy: Design comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems that proactively detect anomalies and trigger automated remediation workflows.
- Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Contribute to the design and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, leveraging self-healing principles for rapid recovery.
- Performance Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to optimize the performance and resilience of our cloud infrastructure.
- Security Best Practices: Integrate security best practices into the cloud architecture, ensuring self-healing mechanisms do not compromise security.
- Cost Optimization: Design cost-effective cloud solutions while maintaining a strong focus on resilience and self-healing.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive architectural diagrams, design documents, and implementation guides.
- Knowledge Sharing: Evangelize self-healing concepts and best practices within the engineering organization.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and self-healing trends, and proactively identify opportunities for improvement.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Architect, with significant experience designing and implementing solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Background as a Cloud engineer, SRE / DevOps
- Deep understanding of cloud architectural patterns, including high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
- Strong focus and demonstrable experience in designing and implementing self-healing infrastructure.
- Expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation tools.
- Experience with monitoring and logging solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Google Cloud Monitoring) and their integration with automated remediation.
- Familiarity with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and their self-healing capabilities.
- Understanding of networking principles and security best practices in the cloud.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect) are highly desirable.
- Experience with AIOps platforms and their application to self-healing is a plus.
