ABOUT THE ROLE
As Director, you will provide visionary leadership and effective management, fostering high-impact research and partnerships across government, industry, and academia. You will be responsible for advancing AITHM’s mission, securing the Institute’s sustainability, and enhancing its national and international reputation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading AITHM’s cutting-edge research in infectious diseases, biosecurity, public health, and tropical medicine.
- Building and strengthening collaborations with stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, and research institutions.
- Driving strategic growth, identifying large-scale opportunities and securing funding for research initiatives for the University.
- Promoting a dynamic, inclusive, collaborative and high-performing research culture.
- Pursuing your personal program of world-class research.
Your leadership will inspire a team of exceptional researchers and academics, driving pioneering projects that have a global impact.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
To excel in this position, you must be an experienced and influential leader with:
- A distinguished track record of research, in a relevant area of tropical health and medicine research.
- The ability to formulate and execute strategic plans for AITHM’s growth aligned with the University’s goals.
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams in a research or academic setting and delivering on financial and governance outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership development skills and networks.
- A passion for improving health and medicine outcomes in tropical and Indigenous communities.
