We're currently seeking a highly skilled data modeller to join a dynamic consulting team delivering advanced data solutions to a financial services client. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for someone with deep experience in data modelling, big data ecosystems, and cloud data platforms.

As part of a high-performance delivery team, you'll work directly with clients to design and implement scalable data models, pipelines, and architectures that support real-time analytics, data governance, and AI/ML use cases.

About the role

This role is focused on building future-ready data solutions for enterprise clients. You'll be working across batch and near real-time data pipelines, helping businesses extract maximum value from their data through effective modelling, architecture, and delivery practices.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data models tailored to client business domains and specific use cases

• Develop, test, and maintain batch and near real-time data flows and pipelines

• Apply modelling approaches such as Dimensional Modelling, ER Models, 3NF, and Data Vault

• Create and present proof of concepts (PoCs) and working demos to clients

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead workshops and consulting engagements

• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to the development of best practice within the team

• Contribute to solution design, performance tuning, and support of modern data platforms

• Leverage cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP, IBM) to implement robust data services

• Work with modelling tools like Erwin and Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect

• Engage with stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with business outcomes

Skills and experience - mandatory

• Experience in IT consulting or technical delivery across data-focused roles

• 3+ years of hands-on experience in Big Data / Data Lake environments (cloud or on-premise)

• Experience designing data models using Star/Snowflake schemas and tools such as Erwin

• Proficient in Python, Scala, SQL, and shell scripting

• Strong grasp of cloud platforms and services such as Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB, AWS, GCP

• Background in implementing data warehousing, ETL, and BI solutions

• Understanding of performance-sensitive services (HA, redundancy, failover, SLAs)

• Familiarity with modern software development frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Kanban)

• Proven ability to present to and influence senior stakeholders

• Team leadership or people management experience

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related Engineering field

Desirable skills

• Experience with IBM or Teradata data model products (e.g., IFW, BDW, FSDM)

• One or more recognised industry certifications or cloud badges

• Understanding of Data Mesh concepts and Data Product strategies

• Knowledge of containerisation, virtualisation, and network infrastructure
