There is an opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Cairns based internal legal team and assist with the continued investment and growth of the company.

The successful applicant will have exposure to all commercial matters of the Group Companies including, leasing, property acquisition, contract management and franchising. Your work will include negotiating, drafting and reviewing a broad range of documentation such as contracts of sale, leases, agreements to grant lease, licences and franchise documents. The variety, quality and complexity of the matters you’ll be involved in will ensure that no two days are the same.

Whilst you will be assisted by other legal professionals within the team and will liaise and collaborate with a reputed external legal panel of solicitors and legal professionals, you would be expected to bring your own expertise to the role. The Company spans operations across the States of Queensland, Northern NSW and Western Australia

Your primary focus will be to assist the in-house counsel by taking the primary carriage of most of the transactional legal requirements, including but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities

Reviewing, negotiating and drafting of business and land contracts;

Assisting in legal due diligence;

Drafting of leases, license agreements, franchise agreements, put and call options and disclosure statements;

Reviewing and providing advice on financial documents;

Providing sound legal support to underpin commercial outcomes including assisting stakeholders with commercial discussions as required;

Reviewing of new and existing leases and providing advice to relevant parties of their obligations;

Ensuring disclosure compliance for retail shop leases;

Providing advice on the regulatory environment in which the business operates including competition and consumer law and privacy/data breach; and

Applying approved policies and practices to ensure quality legal advice to stakeholders.

Oversee all legal and transactional work across the Group’s Companies and ensure legal compliance

To formulate best practices and procedures for all franchising and leasing transactions to ensure legislative compliance

Liaising with our existing highly reputed external legal panel with all matters under consultation
