About the role
Lead and oversee a dedicated track team of around 35 personnel, focusing on team member performance, skill development, and ensuring their readiness to successfully complete assigned tasks. Monitor team safety performance, including event reporting, hazard identification, and resolution. Manage a variety of tasks, including turnout construction, plainline construction, plainline renewal, re-rail projects, de-stress and verse testing, basic civil construction, flashbutt welding, and track resurfacing.

Skills & experience

• Proven extensive experience as a supervisor of renewals works
• Full C Class Driving Licence or higher with no restrictions
• Able to pass Rail Category 1 medical and ongoing D&A screens

Desirable but not essential:

• First Aid training and first responder training
• Inducted and experience on BHP/Rio Tinto networks
• Frontline Leadership or equivalent qualifications
• Verse Testing Qualification
• Adjust Rail Qualification
• Cert III Rail Infrastructure or equivalent

Duties & responsibilities

• Strong focus on quality risk assessments for all tasks
• Provide quality structured Safe starts and debriefs
• Provide detailed site diary of works to client Representative daily
• Developing methodologies to improve safety and efficiencies
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with client Code of Practice
• Able to develop and sustain a strong safety and collaborative culture in the track renewals team
• Develop execution plans and sequence the execution of track works, inclusive of all rail disciplines
• Make critical decisions to ensure operational best practice
• Demonstrate Strong problem-solving skills
• A proven leader in safety and compliance with an approach to safe execution of track renewals activities
• Record and provide project specific Q&A documentation
• Support the Client team in project delivery, ensuring projects are constructed to contract requirements and timelines are met
• Ability to liaise and influence alongside shutdown lead and multi disciplines including civil, resurfacing, FBW, signalling, etc
• Managing the workforce structure and resources to ensure the safe delivery and quality of works
• Planning and setting up work sites for deliveries, prep work, and execution
• Thorough knowledge and experience with risk management and quality assurance practices
