Our client is a Tier 1 client in the Financial Services sector. They are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager - Data to lead and manage critical data initiatives across their organization. This role will oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex data projects, ensuring alignment with business goals, managing cross-functional teams, and driving high-impact outcomes through structured project governance and agile practices.

Note: this is not a technical project manager role.

Responsibilities:

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale data projects, including data warehouse builds, data migrations, analytics platforms, and governance initiatives.

Collaborate with stakeholders across business, data science, engineering, and IT to define project scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverables.

Develop detailed project plans, manage budgets, allocate resources, and track milestones to ensure timely delivery.

Identify and mitigate project risks and issues through proactive monitoring and resolution strategies.

Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and governance standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Facilitate Agile/Scrum or hybrid project management methodologies, driving sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives where applicable.

Report regularly on project status, KPIs, and health metrics to executive leadership and steering committees.

Lead and mentor junior project managers and coordinators, promoting continuous improvement and best practices.

Requirements:

8+ years of project management experience, with at least 3+ years focused on data or analytics initiatives.

Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative environment.

Experience working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and offshore resources.

• Experience in Data migration or transition projects/programs
• Experience in Banking - PREFERRED

Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or Microsoft Project.
