Michael Vassili Barristers & Solicitors is an expanding litigation and transactional law practice based in Western and North-Western Sydney, and the Central Coast with offices at Blacktown, Seven Hills, Kellyville, Windsor, and Swansea/Belmont. The practice has three decades of solid success in litigation in various jurisdictions throughout NSW and Australia including conduct (as Trial Advocates) in the Supreme Court in various states and territories and the High Court.
We are seeking to join our team of enthusiastic and successful young lawyers:
A Senior Solicitor (Family Law) with minimum 5+ years post admission experience (PAE); and
A Solicitor (General) with up to 5 years post admission experience (PAE) to work across our practice areas from Family Law to Family Provisions.
You will be expected to provide peer review of matters and have conduct of your own matters to a very high standard expected by the Firm. It would be an advantage if you have run defended hearings in this jurisdiction or are otherwise enthusiastic to be mentored to that role.
Salary is negotiable with experience.
Key Responsibilities (Senior Solicitor):
Conduct family law matters from initial interview until completion, including property and parenting proceedings, mediations, and financial agreements.
Provide peer review for junior solicitors on the family law team.
Perform legal research and analysis for strategy, advices, and case preparation.
Work closely with solicitors, paralegals, and clients to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Efficiently manage multiple matters within deadlines.
Essential Requirements (Senior Solicitor):
Admission as a Solicitor in NSW with 5+ years of post-qualification experience, including a current NSW practicing certificate.
Working knowledge of the legislation and case law in this area, including the Family Law Act / the FCFCOA (Family Law) Rules/ the Evidence Act (Cth) and Court process, and meet an expectation that you know how to converse with and apply them.
Team player as well as the ability to work and progress your matters independently.
Strong client management, communication, and organisational skills, being able to work manage and meet deadlines.
Advocacy skills with capacity to conduct appearances and hearings.

Prepare legal documents with attention to detail, including advice and court documents such as originating applications, affidavits, subpoenas, and submissions.
Perform legal research and analysis for strategy, advices, and case preparation.
Work closely with solicitors, paralegals, and clients to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Efficiently manage multiple matters within deadlines.
Essential Requirements (General Solicitor):
Admission to practice as a solicitor in NSW and the High Court of Australia.
A solid work ethic prepared to work to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.
A desire to conduct litigation and be mentored to appear as a Trial Advocate in at least one of our Practice areas.
A desire and capacity to work as a productive and supportive member of our team.
A commitment to ethical practice.
