About The Opportunity
The Liverpool Health Academic Precinct ‘LHAP’ Redevelopment Project Director is a key leadership position on the $830million project (due for completion in early 2028). The role provides expert advice on project management, planning, change management, clinical and operational best practices, delivery strategies and solutions, while working in partnership with internal staff, Health Infrastructure, Project Managers (external and internal), and in close collaboration with Liverpool Hospital’s General Manager and Executive Team. This includes coordinating all activities required to ensure the successful project completion, improvements to models of care, the safe provision of patient care through all stages of the project, and ensuring best outcomes and quality are achieved for the Local Health District over full asset life-cycle (within time and cost constraints).
What You'll Be Doing
Responsible to the SWSLHD Director Capital Works & Infrastructure. The Liverpool Redevelopment Project Director will assume a leadership role for the redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital by providing expert advice on project planning change management matters, strategies and solutions. They will achieve this through liaising with expert best practice sources within South Western Sydney LHD in partnership with Health Infrastructure and other external Project Managers.
The Liverpool Redevelopment Project Director will work in collaboration with the Liverpool General Manager, Redevelopment Team and Executive Team to lead all aspects of the redevelopment of Liverpool Hospital. This includes coordinating all activities required to ensure the successful project completion, improvements to models of care and the safe provision of patient care through all stages of the project.
Where You'll Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

- Relevant Tertiary Degree / Qualification and / or extensive experience at a senior management level in delivering health services and leading project teams.
- Demonstrated experience effectively managing, and leading, all aspects of major capital health redevelopments projects (brownfield, greenfield & refurbishments in a live-setting), from planning, procurement, through to delivery and post-delivery completion (including design, functional briefs, models of care, transitional plans & sub-projects/decants, operational commissioning, communications, procurement, and nonclinical risk management plans for occupation, contractor management & disruption minimisation, etc) while continually motivating and coaching/mentoring the project team.
- Highly developed project management, negotiation, consultation / change-management, and interpersonal skills, with a range of stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical, internal and external), and ability to demonstrate objectivity in decision-making within project time and cost constraints, to achieve:
- project milestones and successful defect-free go-lives, and,
- best outcomes for the project, Local Health District, and clinical / non-clinical service deliver pre- and post-handover. - Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
