The opportunity to work in an exciting program that is one of a kind in Tasmania

A chance to make a real difference - working in a very specialised space with children, young people and their families

You will be well supported and receive ongoing professional development from practitioners nationally and internationally

The Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to creating a healthy, safe Tasmania free from sexual violence.

The Prevention Assessment Support and Treatment (PAST) program specifically supports children and young people under the age of 18 years, who have engaged in inappropriate, problematic and/or harmful sexual behaviour (HSB). The PAST program involves a broad scope of work with young people who may present with complex trauma, neurodiversity, learning disorders, disabilities and other complex behaviours or presentations.

As the PAST Program evolves, we are seeking a Coordinator to join the team and help shape the program.

SASS is guided by trauma informed principles, and highly values diversity, continuous quality improvement and staff development. The PAST Program is run in collaboration with Laurel House in the North and Northwest, as well as Mission Australia statewide.

Practitioners in the PAST Program are provided with specialised training around assessing the circumstances which led to a young person engaging in sexualised behaviours, and in turn identifying and delivering appropriate support and intervention.

Although your background may not be as a specialist in HSB, we encourage you to apply for this role if you:

Are a skilled clinician with a minimum of two years' experience in trauma-informed counselling in sexual assault or related areas

Have knowledge and experience in working with children and young people in the areas of neurodiversity, complex trauma, disability and/or family therapy

Have experience in intake processes, triaging referrals and allocating and coordinating caseloads.

Have a degree in counselling, psychology, social work with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association (AHPRA, AASW, ACA or PACFA)

A current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Card are requirements for all SASS employees.

This position will be permanent (subject to ongoing funding), with a minimum of 3 days per week up to full-time (with a combination of Therapeutic Specialist caseload) depending on candidate preferences.

All SASS employees are entitled to full salary packaging benefits, individual professional development budgets and additional leave over the Christmas period. This position is located at the new SASS offices in the Hobart CBD.

For a copy of the Position Description (inclusive of Selection Criteria) go to our website www.sass.org.au or contact hr@sas.org.au. We encourage you to contact Renae Pepper on renae.pepper@sass.org.au or call on (03) 62310044 to discuss this role in more detail. Applications must include a CV, and maximum two-page cover letter responding to the Selection Criteria in the position description.

Applications to be submitted via email to hr@sass.org.au by close of business on the 29th of April.
