The Role
The Senior Case Officer assists and empowers individuals, couples and families through a variety of support options, providing sufficient access to resources and support to ensure that clients are enabled to progress towards meeting their goals and the expectations of Department of Communities (THRIVE).
This role is also to serve as a Remote Community Connector aiming to engage, inform and assist people living in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote communities through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) pathway process.
Skills and Experience Required
Whilst no qualifications are needed for this role, we are seeking someone with the following skills, experience and knowledge:
Excellent communication skills that show cultural sensitivity toward community members, ability to maintain case files, and participate in planning meetings.
Highly developed reasoning abilities and sound judgment in response to client needs.
Ability to project a calm approach and optimism regardless of the situation and client crises.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in dealing with disruptive behaviors and their effects.
Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, including an understanding of the Tenancy Act along with requirements impacting upon this client group and the services available.
Demonstrated knowledge in exercising initiative, discretion, professional judgment and the ability to accept personal responsibility within the scope of the role.
Demonstrated knowledge of the referral process and requirements to access required outside services.
Demonstrated understanding of the complex needs of individuals who have experienced varied types of trauma and/or health issues.
A National Police Clearance, Working with Children Clearance, and a current driver's license are required.
