Position Overview:
As a Senior Estimator, you will take charge of the estimating process for a wide range of infrastructure projects. You will lead a small team of estimators (3-4 direct reports) and work closely with our sales team, project managers, and subcontractors. Your role will be integral to ensuring that our bids are competitive, accurate, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. With your expertise, you will drive profitability, manage risk, and ensure our continued success in winning high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the estimating team, providing mentorship, guidance, and ensuring the team meets project deadlines.
• Develop accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for a variety of infrastructure projects, typically valued between $500,000 and $20 million.
• Collaborate closely with the sales team, project managers, and subcontractors to gather relevant data and ensure bid submissions are complete and accurate.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and contractual documents to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and overheads, ensuring all potential risks and opportunities are accounted for.
• Oversee the preparation of bid packages and ensure compliance with client specifications, deadlines, and company standards.
• Review and assess subcontractor and supplier quotes, negotiating where necessary to ensure the best value for the company.
• Manage the tender process and ensure all estimates are submitted on time.
• Work closely with senior management to align bids with the company’s strategic objectives and project profitability targets.
• Maintain and update estimating tools, templates, and databases to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
• Ensure ongoing professional development of estimating staff, including training on new tools, software, and industry best practices.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience as an Estimator
• Strong leadership experience, with the ability to manage and mentor a small team.
• Excellent proficiency in estimating software and tools, including Excel, PlanSwift, Cost-X (or similar).
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, materials, and costs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Proven track record of working on projects valued between $500,000 and $20 million.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle complex information and prioritize tasks effectively.
• A proactive approach to identifying potential risks and opportunities within the bidding process.
