Instructional Designer | eLearning Expert | Pilot Project & Mandatory Training Refresh

Let’s be real — some mandatory training feels like a nap wrapped in a slideshow.
Our client (a progressive local government in Melbourne’s north) knows learning can be smarter, faster, and actually kind of inspiring. That’s where you come in.
They're on the hunt for an Instructional Designer who can breathe life into existing compliance training and lead a pilot project to develop an engaging, mobile-friendly eLearn induction for outdoor leisure workers — including lifeguards, swim instructors, gym floor crew and front-line customer service legends.

Your Mission:

  • Review 13 existing mandatory eLearn modules — covering everything from fraud prevention to cybersafety and LGBTIQA+ awareness — and make them sing with best-practice adult learning design.
  • Recommend ways to boost engagement, save time, and make modules device-friendly and easy to access on-the-go.
  • Use your wizardry with Articulate Storyline and Totara LMS to transform content into skill-building gold.
  • Design and build a custom eLearning induction for Reservoir Leisure Centre outdoor teams. (Yes, real-world impact.)

You’re the kind of person who:
✔️ Gets a kick out of turning heavy topics into lightbulb moments
✔️ Knows their way around the ADDIE model and accessible UX design
✔️ Thinks like a learner and designs like a pro
✔️ Can juggle visual design, project deadlines, and the occasional last-minute SME tweak
✔️ Enjoys working with people who care about inclusion, diversity, and real-world outcomes
You'll Need:

  • Strong skills in instructional design for digital adult learning
  • Experience with Storyline, Totara LMS (or similar), and visual design tools
  • A portfolio that shows off creative, accessible learning design
  • High-level communication and project management skills
  • A collaborative mindset – you’ll work closely with Culture & Capability legends

This role is ideal for someone who wants to leave a legacy – not just a library of click-throughs.
You’ll be helping ensure 1,000s of staff across diverse backgrounds, abilities and roles get the information they need, in a way that actually works for them.
So if you’re ready to turn “just get through it” into “that actually helped me,” hit apply.
