Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) is seeking a Manager of External Affairs and Partnerships to work in our Mackay office. GW3 are future-focussed super-connectors driving sustainable economic growth for the Greater Whitsunday region and has four core roles:

About the Role

The Manager of External Affairs and Partnerships role is a permanent part-time position, based in the Greater Whitsunday region and GW3 will consider flexibility in the role structure for the right candidate.

This role is ideally suited to candidates who have the following attributes -

A curious mind

Excellent communication and advocacy skills

Signficant connections with government and industry stakeholders

Comfortable with new and emerging thinking and concepts

Action orientated and outcomes focused

Passionate about working as part of a team

Experience in partnership identification and management.

You don’t need to be an expert in economic development, but you do need to be interested in the region’s future economic transformation and the role our region’s industries and workforces will play in achieving that vision.

This role will support the work of the Future Strategy project team; and will ensure advocacy, coordination and collaboration opportunities are maximised to progress and drive a range of strategic initiatives in the Greater Whitsunday region.

Taking a whole-of-region focus, central to this role will be identifying and managing key partnerships.

The Manager of External Affairs and Partnerships will be an integral part of the region’s economic transformation and will have significant touch points with other GW3 program activities.

The successful person

You will have demonstrated experience in the external affairs and communications realm and have advanced technology skills (we like all the channels). You will have a demonstrated ability to engage meaningfully and efficiently with other team members and external stakeholders. The government policy environment is your sweet spot and finding connections with local opportunities is your super-power. And finally, you will have demonstrated abilities in operational delivery including setting priorities, meeting deadlines, and achieving outcomes.
