Oversee the preparation and clearance of high-quality, engaging and timely media and communications materials, including media releases, statements, opinion pieces, talking points and speeches – including those supporting the launch of major Authority reports and publications.

Lead the agency’s response to high-profile or emerging media issues, working closely with internal teams to ensure clear, consistent and coordinated communications.

Develop and maintain trusted relationships with media outlets, acting as a senior media liaison for the agency in close coordination with the General Manager, Outreach and Enabling Branch.

Manage and mentor a team of skilled communications professionals, fostering a collaborative, delivery-focused culture.

Oversee media monitoring, analysis and reporting to inform executive decision-making and support continuous improvement in communications practice.

We are looking for a media and public affairs leader who brings:

extensive experience in media relations, public affairs or journalism, including within a public sector context.

excellent judgement and the ability to operate confidently in complex, high-pressure environments.

sophisticated understanding of public communication opportunities and risks, stakeholder sensitivities and the broader external context in which the Authority operates.

superior written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity, accuracy and accessibility.

proven experience managing high-performing teams and leading through change.

a strong understanding of government processes, the media landscape, and the role of independent agencies in public life.
