About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting groundbreaking research? Curtin University is on the lookout for two proactive and enthusiastic Research Services Officers to join our dynamic team full-time on a two-year fixed-term contract!
In this exciting role, you’ll be at the forefront of cutting-edge research—working directly with researchers to bring innovative ideas to life. You’ll provide expert guidance, offer tailored support, and ensure that all projects comply with the latest policies and regulations.
As part of the Research Services and Systems team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the university to offer a responsive, personalised service that empowers researchers and helps cement Curtin’s reputation as a leader in world-class research.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide a personalised and proactive service to Curtin researchers which is focussed on understanding their needs and delivering fit for purpose solutions and interactions.
- Reviewing existing research proposals, developing project budgets, including interpretation of funding rules, associated funder requirements and obligations, and relevant legislation, codes, and guidelines.
- Proactively supporting successful research projects, including monitoring, invoicing, and coordinating reporting on contractual and project milestones.
- Provide advice and coordinate project amendments and Contract Agreement Variations with the internal stakeholders, research teams and external organisations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of research activities, grants, and budgets.
We are looking for:
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple and often competing tasks with attention to detail within deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Demonstrated experience in administering and applying policies and procedures and the ability to provide advice and decisions on rules and entitlements.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, with the ability to use discretion and knowledge to determine appropriate actions.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in both oral and written communication with well-developed cross-cultural sensitivity and diplomacy.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and to consult and liaise with stakeholders across an organisation with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Advanced computer literacy with skills in in a wide range of applications including word processing, spreadsheet packages and email.
Role Requirements:
- As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
