About the role
Do you thrive working with multicultural communities and are you passionate about promoting cross-cultural relationships and social cohesion?
In this role, you will support services of the Hillview Intercultural Community Centre by proactively engaging with multicultural associations and community leaders. Importantly, you will manage Canning’s Cultural Ambassadors Program, Welcoming Cities Project and implement initiatives that support the diverse needs of our multicultural communities.
Based at the Hillview Intercultural Community Centre, this is permanent full-time position that builds an inclusive community for all!
A snapshot of your new role:
Coordinate the Cultural Ambassador program and building relationships to support the City’s engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
Provide advice, support and resources to multicultural associations and community leaders
Plan, deliver and evaluate projects and initiatives that foster an inclusive, multicultural community
Work with the City’s Marketing team to develop culturally appropriate communication strategies
Conduct research and analysis to understand multicultural community needs, and to shape strategy, planning and informed decision-making
Assist in preparing reports, proposals, and presentations for stakeholders and funding bodies
Provide day-to-day support at the Centre, undertaking customer service floor shifts and ensuring smooth operations of the facility
How you will thrive in this role:
Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Community Services (or similar) or equivalent knowledge and experience
Demonstrated experience in community development, engagement and working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
Strong cultural competency, communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver community-based projects and partnerships
Excellent writing skills and digital literacy, including experience developing content for websites, social media and e-newsletters
Experience working for (and with) local governments will be highly regarded
