This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled administrator or project support professional to join a high-performing government team on a 12-month contract based in Brisbane’s CBD.

The Opportunity

The Design Standards and Post Occupancy Evaluation Support Officer is a critical operational role responsible for providing both administrative and technical support across two core workstreams: Design Standards and Post Occupancy Evaluations (POE). You will coordinate documentation, stakeholder engagement, and reporting tasks to support the Department’s commitment to excellence in educational infrastructure.

This position is based onsite at 123 Albert Street, Brisbane, and is offered as a 12-month contract commencing 2 June 2025.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as secretariat for the Design Standards Working Group, including agenda preparation and minute taking;
  • Manage registers in the myProjects system (variations, issues, and lessons learned);
  • Support the development and refinement of POE survey instruments and assist with data collection;
  • Liaise with stakeholders and assist with drafting reports, communications, and technical summaries; and
  • Coordinate site visits, meetings, and follow-up activities to maximise survey response rates and support quality outcomes.

Required Experience

This role is suited to candidates with strong communication and organisational skills, as well as an interest in infrastructure, planning, and continuous improvement in public sector service delivery.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Confidence using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Power BI, and Teams;
  • Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills Demonstrated experience coordinating projects, meetings, or research tasks;
  • Ability to manage documentation and data with precision and attention to detail; and
  • Strong interest in building and infrastructure with a foundational understanding of design standards and codes.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience with Content Manager and Microsoft Survey Manager; and
  • Background or qualifications in infrastructure planning, strategic policy, or education infrastructure.
