About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Ochre Imprints Pty Ltd as a full-time Senior Heritage Advisor based in Clifton Hill, VIC. In this key role, you will provide expert advice and guidance on heritage planning and management to our diverse range of clients across a variety of projects.
What you'll be doing
Undertake CHMP reports and research for Aboriginal heritage projects, particularly major projects in regional Victoria
Supervise and be responsible for large archaeological survey and excavation projects
Undertake Aboriginal stakeholder consultation and project administration
Build and support strong relationships with our stakeholders - internal and external
Write technical reports and contribute to the preparation of Heritage assessments
Utilising the opportunity of a major project to take a lead in improving archaeological recording and analysis methods and standards and presenting the outcomes in conferences and papers.
Mentor and guide more junior heritage professionals within the team
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our heritage advisory services and internal processes
What we're looking for
Listed Heritage Advisor/Archaeologist with First People -State Relations with at least 5-7 years' experience
A tertiary qualification, preferably an Honours degree in Archaeology or Anthropology (or Arts or Science) with an emphasis on Australian Aboriginal archaeology
Demonstrated Project Management experience with Cultural Heritage Management Plans and major projects
Experience in all aspects of Cultural Heritage Management Plan report writing will be highly regarded
Experience in all aspects of fieldwork, including archaeological survey, sub surface testing, salvage excavation, analysis of archaeological materials including lithics, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal historical site recording, and use of dGPS
Demonstrated knowledge of and how to apply cultural heritage legislation such as the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Heritage Act 2017 and local Government policy in the context of planning and development impacts
Full Victorian driver's license, current first aid certificate and construction induction white card
