Job Summary

Our client, a major QLD State Government Agency, is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist with infrastructure and Network architecture experience. The client is committed to building a new, state-of-the-art precinct in south-west Brisbane, with an investment of over $800 million. This project will feature cutting-edge infrastructure design and an innovative operating model.

The Senior Technical Specialist will be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing strategies and solutions that deliver fit-for-purpose information technology solutions.

Main Responsibilities

Analyse, develop and implement technical design and solutions

• Design and manage/oversee the installation of technical solutions for the prisoner and offender networks.
• Perform architectural fit review of business case, implementation strategy and solution specifications for all prisoner and offender ICT related projects and system enhancements
• Ensure developed solutions are robust and easily supported and maintained within the constraints of the current environment
• Source solutions from the private sector ensuring compliance with government policy
• Oversight delivery and implementation of technical solutions
• Develop, implement and manage support and maintenance arrangements with vendors
• Conduct cost/benefit analysis of potential technical solutions

Develop and maintain technical documentation for the solutions

• Develop Enterprise Architecture for prisoner and offender solutions
• Design the high level technical environment and future planning for the Infrastructure, Systems and Network technologies
• Ensure compliance with relevant ICT standards associated with the Enterprise (Application and Technology) Architecture
• Ensure solutions provide appropriate security (information, network, desktop and physical) suitable for the correctional environments

Provide high level strategic and tactical advice

• Provide advice regarding the overarching enterprise architecture to relevant governance bodies
• Provide advice on support and maintenance models that ensure appropriate statewide coverage
• Provide advice regarding current solutions and build sustainable maintenance and support models
• Prepare business cases that outline technical solutions and include cost benefit analysis for not technical staff
• Provide high level advice on suitability of off -the-shelf software
• Assess hardware requests for suitability against the proposed environment and function
• Provide advice regarding the ordering / purchasing of hardware and software licenses for prisoner and offender solutions
• Project manage delivery and implementation of technical solutions

Requirements

• Previous hands-on experience with CISCO Webex
• Systems analysis and problem solving skills that lead to the development of innovative solutions
• Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining technical documentation to a high standard
• Comprehensive knowledge of the technical elements of small but highly secure networks
• Proven ability to source solutions external to the department
• Proven experience in managing vendors
• Contemporary knowledge of information and communication technologies
• Ability to quickly develop knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies and procedures that influence prisoner and offender ICT solutions within the correctional environments
• Ability to negotiate, persuade and elicit requirements
