About the opportunity

Our client in the financial services space is on the lookout for an Audit expert to lead their Internal Audit function. You will be just as proficient in designing, implementing and managing the internal audit process as you are in building strong relationships with your colleagues and key internal & external stakeholders.

• Design, implement and oversee internal audit frameworks and controls to safeguard the longevity of the business
• Influence, educate and guide internal stakeholders, taking them on the journey and developing their understanding of the “why” behind the controls!

Their ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about all things audit - the controls and safeguards which ensure a businesses longevity. You’ll be up to date with the latest trends, regulatory requirements and be passionate about getting the workgroup as a whole to adopt change and understand the importance of doing things by the book – not only for them, but the wider business and it's clients.

About you

In addition to the given assumption that you’ll have held Audit focused roles within financial services sector, you will have demonstrable experience in:

• Optimising existing process and procedures, controls and practices from a continuous improvement lens
• Compliance, Governance & Risk Analysis and subsequent continuous improvement
• Experience with the preparation of reports for the board – including objective analysis and actionable recommendations for treatment
• Being a strong relationship builder & communicator – whether it be internal or external stakeholders

Must haves:

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, Audit or Risk
• Ability to influence, guide and coach C-Suite, Executive Leadership to frontline employees – helping them understand the ‘why’ and take them on the journey
• Proven ability to design audit framework, implement, monitor and deliver projects on time amidst competing priorities
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Australian financial & accounting regulatory environment (ATO, ASIC, APRA for example)
• IIA-A, AFAANZ (highly regarded but not essential)
