About the role

Vanguard Support Services is seeking a casual Support Worker to join our team in Edensor Park, NSW. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing personalised care and support to our elderly and disabled clients, helping them to live independently and with dignity in their own homes.

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable support worker to assist a client from an Assyrian/Iraqi background. Due to the cultural and linguistic needs of the client, applicants who speak Assyrian or Arabic and have an understanding of Assyrian/Iraqi culture are strongly encouraged to apply.

What you'll be doing

Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping

Providing social and emotional support, including companionship and engagement in recreational activities

Advocating for clients' rights and needs, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure their well-being

Maintaining detailed client records and reporting any changes or concerns to the management team

Adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure the highest standards of care

What we're looking for

A Certificate III in Individual Support or a related field, or a willingness to obtain this qualification

Previous experience in the aged care or disability support sector, with a demonstrated commitment to person-centred care

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others

A strong understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by elderly and disabled individuals

Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required

A current driver's licence and reliable vehicle for travel between client homes
