About the role

Mario's Italian Restaurant, located in the vibrant heart of Broadbeach, Queensland, is seeking an exceptional Sous Chef to join our culinary team. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef . This full-time position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be part of a talented and passionate team that is dedicated to culinary excellence.

What you'll be doing

Assisting the Head Chef in the overall management and coordination of the kitchen operations

Supervising and training kitchen staff to ensure consistent high-quality food preparation and presentation

Developing and implementing new menu items that align with the restaurant's authentic Italian culinary concept

Maintaining strict adherence to food safety and hygiene standards

Collaborating with the Front of House team to ensure seamless service delivery

Participating in menu planning and costing to optimise efficiency and profitability

Fostering a positive and productive work environment in the kitchen

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar leadership role within a reputable restaurant or hotel kitchen

Extensive knowledge of Italian cuisine and a passion for creating innovative, flavourful dishes

Excellent time management, organisation and problem-solving skills

Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to effectively manage a team

Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with the wider team

Formal culinary training or qualifications is highly desirable
