Custom Air Group is an established business with over 30 years experience specialising in Design, Manufacture, Supply & Installation of Custom, Sleeper Cab Air Conditioning Systems & Customised Sleeper Cabin Fit outs. Our Head Office & Factory is based in Somerton Victoria.

We have several divisions that make up our company which cover Design, Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Painting, Installation & Upholstery.

Due to the continued growth of our company, we currently have an opportunity for a Motivated & Suitably Experienced - Mechanical Design Draft Person to join the team with any of the below preferred qualifications and attributes.

This role requires a self-motivated, responsible person with excellent trade qualities & Communication skills who is able to work unsupervised and as a part of a team, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Responsibilities and activities will include:

Ability to Design & Draw components, utilising drafting software, Fusion or Solidworks.

Work alongside Management with design improvements & component development

Ability to think outside the square, designing new products, concepts & components.

Design catalouging & component ordering alongside the Procurement manager.

Ability to Fabricate components if/where required from design drawings, utilising mild sheet metal & steel.

Ability to use a Press Break, Pan Break & Gillotine, prefered but not essential.

Ability to weld steel / aluminium components with supplied welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions, prefered but not essential.

Role includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.

Operate hand power tools, slings, grinders and other hand tools related to the job needs.

Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.

Skills and Experience:

Ability to read plans and drawings.

Ability to use Drafting software, Fusion, Draft Site or Solidworks.

Ability to visualise the customised task at hand

Ability to accurately create a bill of material & cut materials.

Experience in Aluminium, Stainless Steel, MIG & TIG

Ability to handle electrical tools and perform accurate measuring

Good communication skills

Display strong problem solving and decision making skills

Be highly motivated, willing to learn and advance yourself.

Attention to detail

Ability to follow processes

Be able to work unsupervised
