We are seeking a Team Leader (including direct support hours) commencing as soon as possible.
We are looking for a person who can contribute to and build on a successful team and then lead this team utilising your values, skills and experience to maintain and develop a positive and effective team culture and great outcomes for a woman with disability.
Aura Lifestyle Supports PTY LTD is seeking a Team leader to assist a very sociable woman in her early 50’s who has an intellectual disability to live her best life. Her passions and interests include art, dance, music, performance, fitness, cooking, travel and hanging out with family and friends. She is very social and is an active member of her local community. Very caring in nature the lady thrives when her gifts and talents are encouraged, celebrated, and utilised.
The lady lives in her own place close by to her immediate family, she requires 24/7 support to live independently and to engage with her family, friends and local community. She has a support team that assist her with all aspects of life including home duties, personal care, health and wellbeing and accessing activities that focus on her passions, interests and goals.
The Role
This lead role will work in close partnership with the lady, her family and her circle of friends who will assist to guide, mentor and transfer their knowledge of what is successful for her. The lady has the capacity to make many decisions for herself and she clearly exercises her rights of choice and control.
We are seeking someone who has strong leadership and administration skills. Along with leadership, coordination and administration tasks, you will spend time on roster each week directly supporting this lady to ensure you are building a valuable relationship, so she feels safe and listened to. Immersing yourself in her life through providing direct support will assist you to fully understand who she is, her needs, passions and goals, providing you with a foundation to contribute to her and her family's vision for her life. Other day to day activities include:
Supporting the vision of a meaningful life and rich relationships by focusing on both formal (paid) and informal (unpaid) support.
Providing excellent support and supervision to support staff you will lead through team meetings, mentoring, coaching and development.
Creating and overseeing staff rosters, timesheets and overseeing daily shift notes and provide relevant organisational reports each week and month
Overseeing maintenance of her home
Supporting the person to nurture her existing relationships and to co-ordinate and resource a range of activities and opportunities for her to grow networks within her community.
Ensuring there is consistency to her daily routine as well as flexibility to respond to her social events calendar.
Attending medical, therapeutic, and other appointments as directed by her family
Ensuring that her home and living environment is safe, attractive, clean and welcoming.
Be a bridge between the lady/her family and support workers – ensuring the needs of all involved are met whilst focusing on the lady’s/family vision.
Ensuring that information is shared with family, friends and the organisation.
You will be supported with training, mentoring and direct contact with family and our leadership team through this process.
We are looking for the availability and commitment to work daytime, weekends and some overnights within a set fortnightly roster, with each shift being a minimum of eight hours. You will have up to 12 hours per week off roster to manage and support other aspects of her life, the team of staff and met organisational administration requirements. You will be required to facilitate and lead a Team Meeting every 4-6 weeks including arranging attendance, the agenda and minutes.
About You
You are a person with a strong capability to listen and learn. A person with a level of confidence, calmness, self-assurance, and the ability to be a critical and reflective thinker. A person who has experience in, or the ability to learn all aspects of supporting people with support needs to live their best lives. You will be organised, forward thinking and be able to plan accordingly.
Your communication is exceptional. You understand how to effectively communicate information to the lady and a variety of people in her life, whilst respecting family values and decisions, and promoting a culture of integrity, respect, privacy and confidentiality. You will have an innate sensitivity to the lady’s needs, goals and vision, whilst being empathetic to her personal challenges.
Requirements and Selection Criteria
Please demonstrate your ability to build a natural, positive and effective relationship with people with disability and their families.
Please demonstrate your ability to lead, coach and mentor a small team.
Please demonstrate your ability to listen, learn and reflect.
Experience of supporting people with diverse disability support needs is required – please describe your experience thus far
Please demonstrate how you have developed competent administration skills including planning and time management

Hours
The position is Permanent Level 4.1 of Home Care Award; however, Aura pays above Award rates.
