Position Summary
The Assembly Technician Lead is a senior member of the Production Team, responsible for supervising the day-today activities of the assembly function. Reporting to the Production Manager, the role oversees Assembly Technicians and works collaboratively with Mechanical, Electrical, and Product & Project Teams to ensure smooth, high-quality, and efficient assembly operations. This role balances hands-on assembly work with leadership responsibilities, guiding team members, resolving technical issues, and supporting process improvement and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, support, and mentor Assembly Technicians to ensure effective team performance, adherence to procedures, and continuous skills development.
Oversee and participate in the hands-on assembly of machines and components according to technical drawing, schematics, and work instructions.
Collaborate with the Production Manager to plan and prioritise assembly workloads, contributing to production schedules and targets.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and workflow issues during assembly, liaising with relevant teams to escalate and address complex challenges.
Maintain and promote a safe, clean, and organised work environment, ensuring compliance with WHS regulations and company safety policies.
Monitor assembly quality, ensuring products meet Deimos’ standards before progressing through production stages.
Support onboarding and training of new team members in safe and efficient assembly practices.
Qualifications / Experience
Relevant trade qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics fields.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in technical assembly, including at lest 1 year in a supervisory or mentoring capacity.
Strong ability to interpret and execute technical drawings, schematics, and assembly documentation.
Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and basic diagnostic or testing equipment.
Proven ability to lead by example, fostering teamwork, accountability, and process adherence.
Practical knowledge of WHS requirements within a workshop or manufacturing environment.
