About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled GIS Officer to provide the application of spatial analytics, delivery of high-quality cartographic products, and manage our Department’s custodial geospatial datasets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a collaborative team, an environment that encourages development and learning while contributing to both strategic and operational outcomes.
To fill the role of GIS Officer you will have demonstrated experience in the collection, maintenance, sharing and analysis of spatial data and information. You will possess well developed communication skills to build and maintain relationships with team members and other business areas, supporting them to protect, grow and innovate WA’s economy, community, and environment.
You will also have well developed analytical skills and the ability to work with staff, and suppliers to provide innovative solutions. Ideally you will have experience in:
Using ESRI products (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise), with familiarity in open-source GIS tools like QGIS being a plus.
Expertise in handling both spatial and non-spatial data, along with a solid understanding of geodatabases and various data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML).
Spatial data analysis, including image classification, custodial data maintenance and production of high-quality cartographic products.
Strong communication skills to convey technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
A collaborative, team-oriented approach to working with others.
