About the role:
As a Spatial Information Officer, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for operating and customizing geographic information systems (GIS) and related mapping software. Your tasks will include collecting, integrating, and verifying spatial data, as well as assisting in the research, planning, development, and implementation of GIS tools and data modelling processes. This includes the use of programming and scripting tools.
Additionally, you will investigate and analyse anomalies in spatial data integration, liaise with geoscientists, other departmental groups, and the WALIS community to compile, evaluate, and interpret spatial data for mapping projects. You will also assist in researching and evaluating the use of technology in GIS applications by staying up-to-date with technical developments in geographic information systems.
The Role:
Operates and customises geographic information system and other related mapping software in the collection integration and verification of spatial data.
Assist in the research planning development and implementation of GIS tools and data modelling processes including the use of programming and scripting tools.
Investigation and analyse anomalies with the integration of spatial data.
Liaises with geoscientists other departmental groups and WALIS community to compile evaluate and interpret spatial data as source data for mapping projects.
Assists with the research and evaluation of the use of technology in GIS applications by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technical developments in geographic information systems.
Participates in the formulation and contributes to the establishment of new and improved products and processes.
Prepares reports system documentation user guides and procedures.
