About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Plant Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a large-scale solar farm located in Queensland’s Western Downs Region.
In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of the plant, with a focus on maximising uptime and output. Key Responsibilities
- Lead all O&M activities at the site, ensuring alignment with company objectives and strict adherence to safety standards.
- Monitor and manage the performance of plant systems (inverters, panels, electrical infrastructure) using SCADA and other monitoring tools.
- Develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs to optimise plant reliability and performance.
- Coordinate and manage daily maintenance schedules, resource planning, and timely execution of tasks.
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of skilled technicians, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage plant operations during both planned and unplanned outages, minimising downtime and restoring optimal operations promptly.
- Ensure full compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements at the federal, state, and local levels.
- Collaborate with OEMs, contractors, and service providers under long-term service agreements (LTSA).
- Analyse performance data, proactively troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to mitigate risk and optimise efficiency.
- Prepare and present performance reports and KPIs to senior management.
- Drive ongoing operational improvements and support broader company sustainability goals.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience in O&M leadership roles within large-scale solar farms or similar renewable energy facilities.
- Deep technical understanding of solar plant components, including inverters, switchgear, and monitoring systems (SCADA).
- Proven experience leading technical teams in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to plant reliability and efficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Australian WHS regulations, environmental requirements, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong planning and organisational capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across internal and external teams.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy-related engineering or technical discipline (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operations and maintenance within the renewable energy sector.
- Relevant certifications in electrical systems, WHS, or plant operations are highly regarded.
