What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Clinical Services Manager, the role of a Behaviour Support Practitioner is a pivotal part of the Clinical team.
This role is responsible for assisting the delivery of high-quality Allied Health and Behaviour Supports, ensuring sustainability, and meeting benchmark KPIs. They will liaise with various government organisations, develop, and maintain professional relationships, and ensure that they follow evidence-based practices while recommending funding based on NDIAs reasonable and necessary criteria. Conflict management is also a crucial aspect of the role.
The successful applicant will possess exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with emphasis on interpersonal communication skills, trust-building, confidentiality, report writing, and record-keeping. They should also have excellent attention to detail and demonstrated competence in using information technology, electronic client management systems and Microsoft Office.
The ideal candidate will be a registered behaviour support practitioner at a minimum of an experienced CORE or PROFICIENT standard with skills, knowledge, and experience working within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). They should have a sound understanding of the NDIS ECEI Framework and the principles and evidence-based practice regarding the delivery of positive behaviour support approaches within diverse environments.
With the intrastate expansion of Allora Options, there will be opportunities for paid work travel to the Riverland and Eyre Peninsula regions as we grow in these areas.
Conflict management, relationship building, negotiation skills, and a profound understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework, and the requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission are critical. The candidate should also possess exceptional knowledge of the DHS Restrictive Practices guidelines and have experience working with people with behaviours of concern that families, carers, and/or members of the community find challenging.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Degree or equivalent in psychology, social work, developmental education or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in positive behaviour support.
- Assessed or currently assessing as a proficient behaviour support practitioner under the NDIS behaviour support capability framework.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in liaising with government organisations and maintaining professional interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in working with people with disabilities and their families.
- Experience in working with NDIS participants and other relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the NDIS reasonable and necessary criteria.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Willing to travel regionally to the Riverland and Eyre Peninsula monthly to support participants.

- Undertaking Functional Capacity Assessments
- Assisting with training Core Practitioners
- Attending Case Conferences
- Reviewing Restrictive Practices
- Therapeutic Supports
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and changes
- Ensuring compliance is upheld.

- have a DCSI Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- have a NDIS Workers Check
