Rates Collections Officer
Part-Time 3-days | $38.36 p/hour + super | Contract to October 2025 | Western Suburbs

Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne’s western suburbs to recruit a Rates Collections Officer on a temporary part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team focused on community outcomes and high-quality service delivery.

Working 24 hours per week across three days, this role will be based onsite, with potential work-from-home flexibility negotiable for the right candidate. The position is available for an immediate start and will run until October 2025.

The Opportunity:
Our client is seeking an experienced professional to manage the day-to-day responsibilities related to rates debt recovery. You will play a vital role in maintaining accurate records, supporting customers with payment arrangements and hardship plans, and responding to enquiries with empathy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage operational and administrative tasks associated with rates debtors
• Set up and maintain customer payment plans, including hardship applications
• Provide accurate and timely information to customers, staff and management
• Ensure all duties are delivered in line with organisational values and customer service standards

About You:

• Previous experience in a similar role within the Public Sector, Not-for-Profit, Education or Healthcare sectors
• Strong understanding of debt recovery processes and related administration
• Comfortable working in sensitive environments with a customer-first approach
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
