Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to join the team at the Mackay Entertainment & Convention Centre (MECC). This role supports the Operations Coordinator in ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the venue, providing high-level support with event setups, general deliveries, and venue maintenance.

About this opportunity:

As the Operations Supervisor, you will oversee day-to-day venue and event operations, ensuring smooth logistics and maintaining venue standards. Your responsibilities will include coordinating deliveries, organising equipment, assisting with event setups, and supervising the Operations team and cleaning staff. Additionally, you will play a key role in maintaining stock levels, undertaking basic maintenance, and supporting outdoor events at BB Print Stadium.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily deliveries, including receiving and storing contractor deliveries (food, beverage, event materials, waste, recycling, etc.).
  • Oversee event equipment and vehicle logistics, including forklifts, utility carts, pallet jacks, and trolleys.
  • Assist with event setups, pack-downs, and venue changeovers as required.
  • Supervise Operations team members, Cleaners, and Function Support Officers to ensure venue standards are met.
  • Maintain clean and functional storage areas and front-of-house/back-of-house spaces.
  • Manage stock levels for cleaning supplies and coordinate orders with vendors.
  • Undertake minor maintenance tasks related to venue equipment and storage.
  • Support operational tasks at outdoor events, including line marking and equipment logistics.
  • Perform occasional general cleaning as needed.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence
  • Forklift High Risk Work Licence (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience in handling deliveries, including loading/unloading vehicles and receipting goods.
  • Experience in commercial cleaning, including the safe use of cleaning chemicals.

Desirable:

  • QLD First Aid Certificate.
  • Chief Warden or Building Warden Accreditation.
  • Elevated Work Platform High Risk Work Licence.
  • Experience in a similar role within an entertainment venue or warehouse.
  • Practical experience supervising a small work team.
