Are you a highly organised and detail-oriented professional with a passion for supporting impactful workforce development initiatives? The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) is seeking a Skills Support Officer to provide essential administrative and logistical support to our Industry Skills and Jobs Advisor (ISJA) – ensuring smooth operations that help shape the future of skill needs in the mining sector in Queensland.
About the Role:
As a Skills Support Officer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the ISJA in delivering high-quality, evidence-based advice to the Queensland Government on workforce and industry trends. You’ll help coordinate key activities, maintain vital documentation, and ensure seamless communication between internal teams and external stakeholders – including industry employers, small businesses, and members of the Industry Reference Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support
• Maintain accurate records, databases, and documentation.
• Prepare clear and professional reports, presentations, and project materials.
• Coordinate project activities, schedule meetings, and take minutes.
• Support budgeting and financial tracking processes.
Communication & Coordination
• Facilitate effective communication between stakeholders.
• Monitor and manage incoming inquiries and logistical issues.
• Liaise with internal QRC teams to ensure timely updates and collaboration.
Project Support
• Assist in planning and implementing workforce development initiatives.
• Track project progress and support risk identification and mitigation.
• Provide general project-related administrative support.
Other Responsibilities
• Monitor and action email traffic related to ISJA activities and stakeholder engagement.
What You Bring:
Skills & Knowledge
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project management tools, and CRM systems.
• Strong attention to detail and professional presentation of documents.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Familiarity with budgeting processes and stakeholder coordination.
• Understanding of, or ability to quickly learn about, the education and training landscape, VET sector, government funding, and workforce development.
Experience
• 1–3 years in an administrative, coordination, or project support role.
• Background in government, education, training, or non-profit environments is highly regarded.
Qualifications
• Certificate III, Diploma, or Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Education/Training, or Public Administration.
