Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Academic Lead, Indigenous Medical Education to join Office of the Executive Dean, Faculty of Health.

The Academic Lead, Indigenous Medical Education will play a pivotal role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Indigenous health content within the medical curriculum. The position will focus on ensuring culturally responsive medical education, supporting Indigenous students, and fostering faculty development to enhance the delivery of Indigenous medical education. This role presents an exciting opportunity to lead and shape Indigenous medical education in a new medical school, contributing to the growth of a culturally responsive and diverse medical education workforce.

What you need to succeed

Essential Criteria:

  1. Demonstrated experience in Indigenous health education, curriculum development, and/or Indigenous student support in a tertiary setting.
  2. Strong understanding of cultural safety principles and their application in medical education.
  3. Experience in engaging with Indigenous communities and stakeholders in a culturally respectful manner.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

Desirable Criteria:

  1. A postgraduate qualification in health professional education, Indigenous health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience in clinical (medical or other health professional) practice, particularly within Indigenous health settings.
  3. A track record of research and publication in Indigenous health or medical education.
  4. Experience in faculty development or professional learning facilitation.
  5. Knowledge of medical school accreditation requirements related to Indigenous health education.
  6. Fellowship of a postgraduate medical college in Australia (or equivalent).
