Stirling Fildes Pty Ltd is a proudly family-owned business based in Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, supplying pharmaceutical packaging and medical supplies across Australia for over 90 years. We’re looking for a hands-on, commercially savvy Financial Controller to join our leadership team and provide strategic financial oversight during an exciting phase of evolution.

This role reports directly to the General Manager and is perfect for someone who enjoys working closely with decision-makers in a supportive environment.

About the Role

As Financial Controller, you’ll take ownership of financial operations, compliance, and performance reporting. You'll work across teams to ensure leadership has the financial insights needed to make confident decisions.

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing month-end and year-end processes, general ledger, and financial reporting

Leading annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis

Overseeing cashflow, compliance, and statutory obligations

Providing commercial and operational insights to support leadership

Supporting and mentoring a small finance team

Enhancing reporting, systems, and processes (Pronto ERP experience a bonus)

Liaising with external accountants and auditors

What You’ll Bring

CA or CPA qualified with 10+ years in financial leadership or control

Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax, and compliance

Confidence to interact directly with senior leadership and contribute strategically

Experience in family-owned or SME environments highly regarded

Proficiency in financial systems; Pronto ERP experience will be viewed favourably
