About the role
MD Group is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our growing group of national businesses. As our Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the company's financial operations and providing strategic financial guidance to support our continued success.
What you'll be doing
Lead the finance team, ensuring high performance and operational efficiency.
Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to the Directors and members of senior management to drive business improvements
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations
Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to improve efficiency and internal controls
Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, and liaise with external auditors
Manage quarterly BAS, tax compliance, audit preparation, and statutory reporting
Oversee financial aspects of all existing ERP systems
Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to drive cost savings and operational efficiencies
What we're looking for
Qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation
Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar financial controller role, preferably in the manufacturing or construction industry
Proficient in the use of financial reporting software, accounting systems, and data analysis tools
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial stakeholders
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on driving continuous improvement
Proven track record of leading and developing finance teams
