The Children’s Diabetes Centre has the vision to improve the lives of young people living with Diabetes through a multidisciplinary research program including team members based across The Kids and the Department of Endocrinology, Perth Children Hospital.

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join the Children’s Diabetes Centre at The Kids Research Institute Australia. This opportunity is to support clinical trials in technology, medication and behavioural interventions, working with our Clinical Research Team within the Centre.

In collaboration with the Clinical Research Team within the Centre, the Clinical Nurse (CN) is responsible for delivery of high standard of nursing care as it relates to research using the Scope of Nursing Practice Decision Making Framework. This opportunity is to support Sponsor and Investigator initiated clinical trials in technology, medication and behavioural interventions, providing excellence of care to participants according to ICH GCP, and CAHS clinical standards. The role will be involved in all areas of study management, participant recruitment, sample and data collection and data entry.

Some of your duties will include but not be limited to;

Care of participants at study visits, and follow-up care as required

Provide clinical support and assist with the direction, orientation and education of participants and caregivers.

Collection and appropriate handling of biological samples

Study data collection as per ICH-Good Clinical Practice guidelines using paper case report forms &/or electronic report forms

Submission of study documentation and reporting to Human Research Ethics Committee as required

Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, Part-time or Full time will be considered for the right applicant (0.8 - 1 FTE). The initial contract will be for 12 months with a possibility of extension. We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

About You

The ideal applicant will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of Children and families living with Diabetes. You will be self-motivated and driven by achieving project outcomes and will thrive working in a fast-paced environment.

You must also be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience.

Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Phlebotomy experience

Hospital-based clinical experience

Self-directed in provision of patient/participant care

Knowledge of ethical issues relating to the conduct of research involving human participants

Experience in multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care

Effective communication skills

Effective organisational skills

Computer literacy
