Through the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger Program and Looking After Country Grant Program, the Queensland Government negotiates grant partnerships with First Nations communities to care for land and sea country, provide jobs and training and engage future generations. This position within the program, will support projects that contribute to effective grant funding. It will assist with the coordination of grant funding rounds, collate financial information and communicate with First Nations organisations, rangers and community members. This location of this position is Brisbane or Cairns, travel to other locations may be required from time to time. This includes overnight stays.

Your contribution

  • Participate in a team to develop, implement, and continuously improve strategies and systems for the provision of grant funding and other support to First Nations organisations.
  • Provide advice and assistance to staff, other department staff and external stakeholders on grant funding issues under the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Ranger Program and Looking After Country Grant Program.
  • Assist in the development of policies and operating procedures relating to management of grant funds and program support for First Nations organisations.
  • Prepare briefings, reports, program information and correspondence and answer inquiries on program budget and grant funding issues.
  • Provide general administrative support to the program.

About you

  • Administration skills, including in financial reporting and record keeping.
  • Strong communication skills, both written (including in the preparation of public information material) and verbal (including for effective liaison with First Nations people).
  • Research, analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • An ability to be an effective member of the team, working autonomously and within the team environment.
  • Project management skills, relevant to grant funding for First Nations organisations.
