Multiple vacancies currently exist within the Payroll Tax, Mental Health Levy and Betting Tax division (Compliance Team), who is responsible for conducting investigations and audits to ensure compliance with Queensland's revenue laws.

As an Investigations Officer, you will analyse, interpret, and apply relevant legislation and policy on revenue and taxation matters, following approved procedures; respond to technical enquiries; write reports; exercise delegations and deliver excellent service to our clients.

Your typical day as an Investigations Officer may include:
• Using data matching to identify and engage with businesses that may need to be registered for payroll tax and betting tax.
• Reviewing payroll tax client lodgements and liaising with businesses and/or their professional representatives regarding discrepancies identified through data matching.
• Writing reports, analysing data and interpreting legislation.
• Conducting betting tax audits

To be successful in this role you will need:
• demonstrated resilience, patience and persistence in dealing with clients and making insightful decisions to resolve complex problems.
• proficiency in writing letters and reports, demonstrating attention to detail and clarity of information.
• demonstrated capability to analyse, interpret and apply legislation and/or policy or critical thinking to achieve successful outcomes.

There are no mandatory qualifications needed for this role, however, relevant qualifications are highly regarded (e.g. law, business or accounting).
